Parker, Parker

Let me introduce you to Parker.  He is one of our nephews and is the funniest little kid ever!  He has such personality.  Just look at this 'Serious' pose.  It makes me laugh every time I see it.  I love it because his mom has a similar pose with this 'oh so serious' expression he has.

One of my favorite things about Parker is how lively he is and the big words he uses.  I remember one time when Cory and I went to his house.  He was watching us come up the front steps, he jumps off the couch, runs to the door to open it and says, " Oh.. hey guys!  So a... Leia, did you BRING ME COOKIES?"  I laughed and said, "Yes!"  He then proceeds to run away and while doing so quickly bends to one knee, makes his hand into a fist, brings it to the front of his body, swings his elbow back and says "YES!"

Gotta LOVE that kid!

Rider Green!!!

I have a few friends from Saskatchewan, and they are the BIGGEST ROUGH RIDER FANS EVER!!!  They always sport the " Rider Green" on game day.  I have one friend in particualar - (psst... you know who you are...) who has all the associated paraphernalia that comes with a TRUE FAN!

Well as you can imagine last weekend they were in the Grey Cup....  Guess who sported the "Green" all weekend!  Yep it was her.  To comemerate the event, she requested "green cupcakes".  I couldn't just do my taditional mint green color.  I had to do "Rider Green Forsting".  They were GREAT.

Don't Eat the Pretty Ones!

This is so funny I have to share:
Whenever I go on a baking spree, Cory just seems to know the right time to walk into the kitchen.  He's always looking for a "sample" and to do some "quality control".  He knows he's not allowed to "eat the pretty ones"... so he looks for the ugly ones to try.  I always have to laugh as he says: "this one's ugly, this one, and this one...".
I sense there will be a limit at a future date.

Wedding Cupcakes

Over Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend my younger brother got married!  It was a beautiful day and they were all smiles.  I was so excited, and overwhelmed when they asked me to do the dessert bar.  For the reception I did mini-cupcakes, cookies galor and squares.  Sooo Yummmy!

Over the summer I had Cory and his dad help me make a three teared cupcake stand. But let's face it - I told them what I wanted and the measurements... and voila! It was done for me.  I love it!  It worked fantastic!  THANK YOU to the both of you.  We laced this thing with 168 little cupcakes (thanks to those who helped set it up)!  It was a picture and I believe it is one of the best ways to show off those little delicate goodies.

Thank you to Dennis and Chelsea for letting me experiment with my cupcake display.

Gratitude

I've spent a lot of time this past summer getting organized.  I also had an unmentionable amount of help from my family and friends  - you know who you are!
One such occasion was a little "photo shoot" we had in my home.  It involved dressing up my nieces and nephews and taking pictures of them eating up my cookies and cupcakes.  They had so much fun!  It was neat to see them interact with the camera and to find out how they just shined.  I am forever grateful to my sisters-in-law for bringing their children, dressing them up and then letting me fill them full of sugar!  My, oh my, they were wired after leaving my house!
So... I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite pictures and my niece, Peyton.  She is 5 years old,  full of life and her smile and giggles light up any  room.  She was at the center of our little photo shoot; she's the oldest, you see.   The picture placed as my header says it all!  Notice that smile.  Can you tell her favorite color is pink?
Special thanks to my friend JOCELYN for taking the time to come and take the photos for me.  She was able to capture exactly what I was looking for.  I will introduce the others at a future date.  Trust me you will love them all!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Finally I've Done It!

A couple of years ago I had this great idea to start a baking business and now I'm here! It took me some time to finally hash out what I wanted to focus on.  And the name!  Thank you to all those who helped me brianstorm.  I started this blog to keep my fans posted on my baking adventures, and to keep you in loop on my progress as I grow my business.

The idea first came to me when my husband Cory and I took a trip to Toronto to visit some of his family.  Cory's aunt wanted to check out this cupcake shop she had heard about.  So off we went to discover these cute little cupcakes. So pretty, so dainty, so pricey!  I couldn't believe the cost of those suckers!  From then on I've thought: "If they can do it... so can I!!!"

I have always loved to bake.  While growing up, my mom gave me the tools I needed and allowed me to experiment.  I got the confidence I needed from my siblings and my dad as they would always come a run'n when the timer went off and something hot was coming out of the oven.  I still get that - my husband is now included.

So, thank you to my husband and all my family and friends for the encouragement, support and praise I needed to make this a reality.  You are my biggest FANS!!!
